Within 12 months, Iqony Sens realised a 37 MWp solar park for MIBRAG GmbH in the Vereinigtes Schleenhain open-cast mine in eastern Germany. The mining area, which had already been utilised for mining purposes, posed a particular challenge for the project. The 55-hectare ground was recultivated on five levels like a staircase, on which the solar park was built in 16 sections. With a total electricity generation of 38,000 MWh and CO₂ savings of 18,000 tons per year, the project is a prime example of the sensible use of former industrial sites and extraction areas for a sustainable future with 100% good energy.
