Description
Iqony Sens has built a 13.5 MWp solar park in Kropp, Germany, which defies challenges such as high water tables and strong winds to generate sustainable solar energy. The plant consists of 24,500 solar modules and produces 13,500 MWh of energy annually, which is estimated to save 6,000 tonnes of CO2 per year. The site conditions were already taken into account during the planning stage: Strong winds and a former gravel mining area with a high groundwater table require a special construction of the plant. The double amount of reinforced posts, which were driven at a shorter distance from each other, as well as two vertically installed solar modules, ensured stability and groundwater protection. The project is thus a special example of the revitalisation of land and the promotion of the energy transition.
