SENS, a Top-Sponsor and project partner of the club, is installing a rooftop PV system on the Würzburger Kickers’ office building
The special stadium atmosphere returns at last: the new football season started for Würzburger Kickers (FWK) at the end of July. André Kremer, Managing Director SENS, was among the spectators at the Würzburg Stadium in Dallenberg for the first home game. The solar experts are a new Top-Sponsor and support the club in various ways, including in its goal to become climate neutral. As a step towards achieving this objective, SENS is installing a rooftop PV system on the Kickers’ office building.
The whistle blows for the kick-off
It is official since 21 July 2021: SENS is a new Top-Sponsor of the Würzburger Kickers. At the start of cooperation between the two Würzburg-based organisations, Christian Jäger, the new Chairman of FWK and Matthias Wolbert, the club’s Head of Sponsoring and Events, visited the solar experts at their headquarters in Würzburg. Only the fact that the meeting took place on the roof terrace of the PV company’s building prevented those involved in the photo shoot from holding a mini-competition of their own.
Janina Schaub, Head of Human Resources at SENS, was there for the exchange of contracts and is delighted about the partnership: “Our roots in Franconia connect us to the Kickers. Just as the Kickers’ sporting success is based on great teamwork, SENS could not function without its own great team of employees. Our steady growth means we are always happy to welcome new team players."
Rooftop PV system on the Kickers’ office building
SENS not only supports the club as a Top-Sponsor, but also as its project partner in the installation of a rooftop PV system on the club’s office building. The installation of the system is an important step on the way to the Kickers’ ultimate goal of becoming climate neutral. The club looked for partners with innovatory drive, commitment and quality in the region.
So SENS joined the team and has now been requested to install a 47 kWp rooftop system. With a total capacity of 44,481 kWh per year, the rooftop system will supply the office building’s energy requirement. The system will save 24 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, which signifies an important step on the way to the Kicker’s goal of CO2 neutrality. The team led by Moritz Wickert, Head of Energy Systems at SENS (now: Global Director New Business & Innovation), is already well on with planning the project: “Over the last few weeks, we have drawn up the initial plans for the rooftop PV system. We are delighted that we will soon start the implementation and contribute to the Kickers’ sustainable success.”
A sustainable future ahead

Both partners are sure that they will share an exciting future. “With the Würzburger Kickers, we have found a regional partner who plays very similar to us: uncomplicated, direct and full of team spirit,” says André Kremer. “And who knows, perhaps we’ll be able to organise a sporting encounter or two soon, I’m already warming up,” adds the Managing Director, with a laugh.
