Thanks to 10,000 solar modules installed by SENS until January 2022, an abandoned plot of land in Xanten, Germany, has been put to worthwhile use. The former missile base from the early years of the Cold War is now producing about 4,440 MWh of renewable electricity per year. The customer ENNI Solar GmbH benefits from a turnkey PV plant with a total amount of 4.35 MWp. But that is not all: because the solar park will exist for the next 20 to 30 years, the land, which had no areas suitable for agriculture, will have the chance to recover and offer a new home to many species of plants and animals.
