GILDEMEISTER energy efficiency becomes OPTENDA

Iqony Sens invests in Industry 4.0

From GILDEMEISTER energy efficiency to OPTENDA

Iqony Sustainable Energy Solutions (former STEAG Solar Energy Solutions GmbH) is continuing to grow with a special focus on digitalisation - a vital field for the future. The Würzburg-based provider of renewable energy services is a subsidiary of STEAG Energy Services GmbH in Essen - and now officially the sole owner of OPTENDA in Stuttgart.

The Swabian experts in energy efficiency have successfully supplemented the Iqony Sens service portfolio since 2013. The full acquisition of all the shares in the company represents a clear commitment to further investment by STEAG in the growing market for energy data management.

"We have perceived that the demand in this area is extremely strong. In times of increasing decarbonisation, the factor of energy costs and above all the need to optimise these costs will become more and more decisive. We aim to play an active role in shaping this development", says Iqony Sens Managing Director André Kremer.

The successful "Energy Monitor" model

The development of the "Energy Monitor" began around seven years ago. This is a software programme with which energy management can be digitalised, thus displaying both optimisation and savings potential. A large number of customers from industry, trade and commerce as well as energy consultants already rely on this cross-sectoral solution. "It’s above all the flexible integration of metering technology and existing systems, as well as the simple and intuitive application that are popular with users", explains Sebastian Braun, long-standing Managing Director of the former GILDEMEISTER energy efficiency GmbH. Together with his team of experts he will continue to manage the fortunes of the Iqony Sens subsidiary from the company’s HQ in Stuttgart.

The latest member of the STEAG family is now called OPTENDA

With immediate effect this will be under a new label: the STEAG Group enterprise now operates under the name "OPTENDA" (OPTimize ENergy by DAta). The "Energy Monitor" is to be further expanded and also developed for specific customer groups. For example, the energy monitoring experts see great potential in chain stores, logistics companies and manufacturing industry.

Simplifying energy audits for companies

On the part of customers, it is not only cost reasons and the desire for a more sustainable image that speak in favour of the use of energy data monitoring. Increasingly stringent legal requirements also need to be taken into account. In the case of large companies, for example, continuous digital recording and evaluation as well as the reporting of energy data facilitate the energy audits which are mandatory in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1. Energy data monitoring also provides valuable support in the certification of voluntarily implemented energy management systems (in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50.001).

Substantial business potential

Joachim Rumstadt, Managing Director of STEAG GmbH, and Dr. Ralf Schiele, Managing Director of Iqony Sens, confirm that: "The development and market potential of OPTENDA is huge", adding: "After all, worldwide the call for energy-efficient and sustainable companies is getting louder and louder, and the youngest member of our corporate family delivers real added value on the path to a 'green' Industry 4.0".
