Solar park planned in Münchberg

SENS builds park on behalf of RheinEnergie

Open-space solar park planned in Bavaria

Excavators will soon be rolling in the Upper Franconian town of Münchberg (Bavaria). The Utility Scale division of STEAG Solar Energy Solutions will build a solar park there on behalf of RheinEnergie AG. For the Würzburg EPC service provider, this is the first project in cooperation with the energy provider from Cologne. Both parties are looking forward to the joint project, for which the ground-breaking ceremony will take place in September.

The project is being built between existing units and is divided into three sections. The existing plants have a total output of 6.8 MWp and will be expanded by another 6.5 MWp. The new solar park will produce approx. 5,900 MWh per year and can thus supply about 2000 households with electricity. It’s plain to see that the positive environmental impact is tremendous. Compared to conventional production, the green energy produced saves around 4,000 tons of CO2 per year.

The new construction will be integrated into the existing structure in a way that is coherent with the overall picture. From planning, purchasing and logistics through to construction supervision and commissioning, STEAG SENS takes over turnkey construction.

The completion of the Münchberg II solar park is planned for the end of 2019.
