What do you need to know?
To make your first time with us easier, we have put together a small FAQ with questions about the training. Click through and find answers to what you would like to know.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us and we will clarify all your questions!
How does my first day of work proceed?
On your first day, you will be welcomed at the reception by our HR department along with other apprentices and new employees. This marks the beginning of your onboarding day. You will receive your equipment, necessary safety briefings, and will get to know the works council. During the lunch break, a freshly cooked meal will be provided in our own company cafeteria. Following that, you will take a tour of the office building and familiarize yourselves with the various departments. And most importantly, you will meet your respective trainer.
What do I need to bring on my first day?
Nothing – except your Good Energy! On your first day, you will receive a Goodie-Bag containing all the items you'll need on a daily basis: including a notepad, a notebook, and a water bottle. You can refill the water bottle for free and a shared lunch will also be provided.
Is there a prescribed dress code in the office?
No worries, you don't need to squeeze into a suit for us – we follow a "Business Casual" dress code. However, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable. You can find further tips for the optimal outfit here in the video.
Are there events to get to know colleagues?
We regularly organize events, such as a summer barbecue where you can get to know your (future) colleagues better. Not to be forgotten is our legendary Christmas party, which provides a great atmosphere for getting to know the teams in a festive mood!
Can apprentices work from home?
Apprentices are generally not allowed to work from home, as we attach great importance to a thorough induction programme.
Where can I obtain relevant information before my first day of work?
Once we receive the signed apprenticeship contract from you, we will provide you with access to our Onboarding Portal. There, you will receive information about the start of your apprenticeship from us, as well as the contact details of your designated person. Additionally, you can upload all important documents on this platform.
How do I get to the office building?
Our headquarters in Würzburg might not be the easiest to locate, but no worries: we'll guide you. Here is a map with directions to our office, whether you're traveling by bus or car.
What are my working hours as an apprentice?
In order to provide you with a solid and comprehensive education, you will begin with a 40-hour work week.
Do apprentices have to work overtime?
Overtime is generally not required for apprentices – our contractually defined working hours are sufficient for acquiring the profession! If you are under 18, the Youth Employment Protection Act also safeguards you against working overtime. Your daily working hours must not exceed eight hours, and you must not spend more than 40 hours per week at work.
When can apprentices request vacation?
Your complete entitlement to vacation is stipulated in the apprenticeship contract and is dependent on your age. At 18 years old, you are entitled to a minimum of 20 days of annual leave. At SENS, you even receive the full 30 days of vacation, just like all permanent employees. You can take this leave during the current calendar year and have the right to a minimum of two consecutive weeks of vacation.
What does the probationary period mean?
The probationary period commences with the apprenticeship. During this time, you assess whether you have chosen the right profession, and we can determine if you fit to SENS. The probationary period lasts for four months – within this period, both parties can terminate the contract at any time without stating reasons.
Can the apprenticeship be shortened?
If you have completed further schooling or a previous apprenticeship, it is possible to shorten the apprenticeship duration. This reduction can be agreed upon either at the beginning of your apprenticeship or during its course. For instance, with a completion of intermediate secondary education ("Mittlere Reife"), the apprenticeship can be shortened by up to 6 months, and with a high school diploma ("Abitur"), it can be reduced by up to 12 months. If you have previously completed an apprenticeship, a reduction of up to 12 months is also possible.
