Alternating Current

Alternating Current:

Alternating current is an electric current that changes its direction (polarity) regularly. However, direct current is generated by solar cells. For historical reasons, the public electricity grids are predominantly alternating voltage grids that cannot transport direct current – which is why the energy produced by PV systems first has to be converted into alternating current by an inverter in order to feed it into the public grid.
